VIJAYAWADA: THE state will have 300 additional MBBS seats what with two Government medical colleges coming up at Srikakulam and Adilabad respectively. Similarly, there would be an additional 100 BDS seats as Kadapa has been sanctioned a dental college with an intake of 100. At present, the State has 4100 MBBS seats and 1630 BDS seats.
According to NTR University of Health Sciences vicechancellor AV Krishnam Raju, three medical colleges - the GSL medical college, Rajahmundry, Santiram medical college, Nandyal and Konaseema Institute of Medical Sciences, Amalapuram - are yet to get permission for taking up admissions from the Medical Council of India (MCI).
If they fail to get permission by July 17, they would be excluded from first counselling, he said. Meanwhile, the NTRUHS has issued notification calling for Online applications for admission into MBBS and BDS courses for the academic year 2008-09. Those who scored 50 per cent in both the Intermediate and EAMCET can apply. The minimum marks for SC, ST and BC candidates is 40 per cent.
The counselling for general category candidates is likely to be held from July 23 to 29 and and the for the special categories on July 30 and 31. Krishnam Raju said the applications could be downloaded from http://appntruhs. ap.nic.in from July 16 to 20. The candidates should apply Online for admission into MBBS and BDS courses.
The printout of the filled-in application should reach the registrar on or before July 21.
The registration cards would be uploaded soon after receipt of the DD from the candidate. Printouts of the registration card could be taken out.
Online counselling would be held at Osmania University, Hyderabad, JNTU, Kukatpally, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupati and NTRUHS, Vijayawada. The candidates could contact the helpline Number 0866-2450569 for necessary information.
